The common name for hibiscus is japa.it lacks fragrance but has great medicinal properties. This plant does not bear any fruit but has various shades and color.it regulates the aggravated balance of vatta, pitta and kapha doshas. The purpose of this detailed study is to know the relevant facts and make this common herb useful in every household into various medicinal uses to live a radical free life.it is an herb that has been used in different parts of the world because of its vast beneficial properties, and as an herbal remedy to many diseases the interesting fact about hibiscus is that all the parts of it is used like the flower, leaves and root.

Herbal Drug Adulteration: A Hindrance To The Development Of Ayurveda Medicine

Herbal drugs being the base of traditional medicine and are useful in medicine and cosmetics preparations. With the increase in demand of herbal preparations malpractice and problem of adulteration is also increased. Adulteration is both accidental and intentional. Accidental adulteration is due to wrong identification of drug, whereas intentional adulteration is to earn more profit. Among these intentional adulteration is more troublesome regarding the safety issue. Examples are Japanese ginger (Zingiber mioga) used to adulterate medicinal ginger (Zingiber officinale), Kampillaka powder is adulterate with brick powder etc. Extinction of many species due to deforestation and incorrect identification of plants are the main reason for adulteration. Adulteration of herbal drug has become hindrance to the further development of Ayurveda medicine. It affect the trust of people in Ayurveda medicine by reducing the efficacy of drugs. Hence this paper is an attempt to understand all the ways of adulteration and different measures to overcome these problems thereby, farmers of our country will get economic benefit by cultivating original species which will help to increase the safety of herbal preparations.
Plant Species Utilized To Treat Skeletal Fluorosis and Fluorosis Arthritis From Eastern Ghats of Andhra Pradesh, India
READ MOREarrow_right_altThe present paper deals with Medicinal Plants used to treat Skeletal Fluorosis and Fluorosis Arthritis from Eastern Ghats of Andhra Pradesh. Skeletal fluorosis is a bone disease caused by excessive accumulation of fluorides in the bones. In advanced cases, skeletal fluorosis causes painful damage to bones and joints. A total 49 plants belonging to 44 genera, 33 families used against skeletal fluorosis by the tribal and rural people of Eastern Ghats of A. P., India. Further research is mandatory to focus on bio efficacy and safety aspects of these phytochemical agents for finding novel natural drugs.
The purpose of the present research work was to development and evaluation of herbal cosmetic i.e. Varnak Ghrita. Herbal cosmetics offer several advantages over other chemical based. The majority of existing cosmetics which has prepared from drugs of synthetic origin and give extras fairness to face, but it has several side effects such as itching or several allergic reactions. Herbal cosmetics do not have any of these side effects, without side effects it gives the nourishment to skin. In Ayurvedic texts, there are so many special procedures and thousands of medicaments for Varnaprasadhana. Acharya Chakradutta had depicted one such formulation “Varnak Ghrita” as Varnaprasadhana. Sneha Siddha drugs have better pharmaco-kinetics action in comparison to other dosage form because of the lipid nature of bio- membrane, as lipid soluble substances readily permeate into cells. Sneha kalpana is successfully used for ages in treating various skin ailments. Ghrita has valuable importance either used internally or externally. Present paper includes pharmaceutical as well as analytical study of Varnak Ghrita.
