Author Guidelines

Comprehensive instructions for manuscript preparation and submission to IJAHM.

International Journal of Ayurvedic and Herbal Medicine (IJAHM) provides a platform for the publication of research articles, short communications, and review articles in the field of Ayurveda and Herbal Medicine.

Manuscript Preparation

File Formats

Submit word files with tables, photos, and graphs electronically embedded within the text of the document. Manuscripts should be neatly typed, single line spacing throughout, including tables, on pages of uniform size with at least 1 cm margins on all sides.

Manuscript Structure

  1. Manuscript Title: Top of paper, Times New Roman; Fonts all caps, bold, 18 font size value.
  2. Author Names: Last name, followed by initials. The corresponding author must be marked with an asterisk and should be listed first; font: bold, 12 font size value.
  3. Institution Name: Institutional address; 12 font size value.
  4. E-mail: Email of corresponding author; 12 font size value.
  5. Date of submission: 10 font size value.

Article Types

Research Article

Pages should be numbered consecutively; the text should be arranged in the following order:

  • Title page
  • Abstract
  • Introduction
  • Materials and Methods or Experimental work
  • Results
  • Discussion or Results and Discussion
  • Acknowledgements
  • References
  • Figures and Tables (appropriately included in the text)

Short Communication

The journal publishes exciting findings, preliminary data, or studies that did not yield enough information to make a full paper as short communications.

  • Format requirements are similar to full papers.
  • Maximum length: 10 pages.
  • Structure: Subtitles such as Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results, and Discussion must be merged into the running text.
  • Illustrations: Preferably only 3-4 illustrations.

Review Article

Should be about 15-30 pages long, containing up-to-date information and comprehensively covering relevant literature.

  • Preferably written by scientists with in-depth knowledge of the topic.
  • Format requirements are the same as full papers.
  • Review articles do not need to be divided into specific sections like Materials and Methods, but must include an Abstract and Introduction.

References & Examples

References should be listed on a separate sheet and numbered consecutively in the order in which they are cited in the text. Cite in the text by the appropriate Arabic number (e.g., 1, 2, 3) and the numbers should be superscripted.

Journals Format

Author(s) of article (surname initials). Title of the manuscript. Journal title abbreviated Year of publication; volume number (issue number): page.

Example (Standard Journal Article):
Panda BB, Gaur K, Kori ML, Tyagi LK, Nema RK, Sharma CS et al. Anti-Inflammatory and analgesic activity of Jatropha gossypifolia in experimental animal models. Global Journal of Pharmacology 2009; 3(1):1-5.

Books and Other Monographs

Format: Author AB, Author BB, Author CC. Title of Book. Ed, Vol, Publisher, City, year, page numbers.

Example:
Nadkarni KM. Indian Materia Medica. Edn 3, Vol. I, Popular Prakashan, Mumbai, 2000, 242-246.

Figures and Tables

Figures

  • Should be on separate pages but not inserted within the text.
  • Numbered consecutively in Arabic numerals.
  • Brief title in lower case bold face letters below the figure.
  • Graphs and bar graphs should preferably be prepared using Microsoft Excel and submitted as Excel graphs pasted in Word.
  • Illustrations should be drawn to approximately twice the printed size for satisfactory reproduction.
  • Avoid diagrams made with India ink on white paper; clear digital formats are preferred.
  • Photographs should be on glossy paper or high-resolution JPEG images.
  • Figure titles and legends should be typed on a separate page.

Tables

  • Tables must be cited in the text in numerical order.
  • Table 2 cannot be cited before Table 1.
  • If a citation to a Table or Figure is not found in the text, it will be deleted.

Symbols, Abbreviations & Nomenclature

  • Symbols: Unless specified otherwise, all temperatures are understood to be in degrees centigrade (°C).
  • Abbreviations: Use standard scientific abbreviations (e.g., in vitro, in vivo, in situ, ex vivo, ad libitum should be in italics).
  • Biological Nomenclature: Names of plants, animals, and bacteria should be in italics.
  • Enzyme Nomenclature: The trivial names recommended by the IUPAC-IUB Commission should be used, along with the code number and systematic name at the first citation.
