Result and discussion
Most literature reports indicate that Pongamia pinnata (L.) Pierre exhibits a wide range of pharmacological activities, including anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, antioxidant, anticancer, hepatoprotective, and wound-healing effects. However, well-designed clinical studies are still required to substantiate its therapeutic potential and its role in improving patient quality of life. This review systematically compiles and critically evaluates existing information on the botany, phytochemistry, traditional applications, and experimentally validated biological activities of P. pinnata leaves. The findings highlight the need for continued research to elucidate precise molecular mechanisms, and suggest that comprehensive future studies may facilitate the development of safe and effective therapeutic applications in modern medicine.
