Geniosporum prostratum (L) Benth belongs to family Lamiaceae grow only in Tamil Nadu. Present study deals with Pharmacognostical examination including determination of Loss on drying, ash value and extractive value. The Preliminary Phytochemical screening of whole plant was carried out and it is revealed the presence of various phyto constituents like Alkaloids, Glycosides, Steroids, Triterpenesand, Tannins and Saponins. The result wills useful for the standardization and identification this plant.

Copper being an essential element in human biology, its relevance in joint effusion has been served to be a non-invasive diagnostic tool for the characterization of joint diseases. The main objective of present work was to establish the correlation between the levels of copper in the synovial fluids (SF) of patients consuming Antiarthritic Ayurvedic drugs (AAD) and Allopathy medicine. Arthrocentesis was adopted to acquire the samples of joint effusion from proved cases of Osteoarthritis (OA), Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and Bursitis patients. Patient's population was divided into two categories based on the intake of Allopathy and Ayurvedic Drugs. The control comprised of healthy adult volunteers. The concentrations of copper in joint fluid of patients were assessed by Inductively Coupled Plasma Atomic Emission Spectroscopy (ICP-AES) analytical technique. It was observed that the patients under the therapy of Antiarthritic Ayurvedic drugs formulation had significantly altering level of mean copper concentration than those under Allopathy drug therapy. Furthermore, the post treatment effects of Antiarthritic Ayurvedic drugs on the amount of copper in joint fluid of patients were fairly analogous to controls. Thus the current study implicates an unequivocal positive alteration of copper in joint fluid of arthritis patients under treatment of traditional medicinal system, thus elucidating its antidote effect for potent joint health. Moreover, it demarcates the two medicinal systems pertaining to its possible elemental variation in joint effusion.

Ayurveda, the Science of Life, has given much importance to the preservation of health and the prevention of diseases. Naturally it has dealt very deeply the aspect of dietetics in view of the social and climate conditions. Ayurveda defines 'Diet' as that which is 'beneficial' (Hitakaraka), taken in appropriate and moderate proportions and taken at proper time of the day. Here the world 'beneficial' or 'Hitakaraka' has a special meaning of food which keeps the person healthy, maintains normal body functions, at the same time corrects the irregularities that may occur in the body, leads to proper functioning of the organs and prevents diseases. Ayurveda regards that, diet is the origin of strength, life activities, the bright texture of the skin, health and normal activities, of all the organs. These essential qualities of a healthy or 'Swastha' person is due to the intake of proper food in quality and quantity.

Ayurveda is a science and art of living. As such, it is not only concerned with the treatment and cure of the diseases but also aims to relieve one from all categories of suffering i.e. Physical, Mental, Social and Spiritual. So, ayurveda is not just a system of medicine but also deals with all aspects of life. In this modern era, due to varying factors of faulty dietary habits, work pressure, competitive lifestyles, longevity, always being in hurry, pollution of air, water and earth and the noise levels in city living all contribute to disease. Our life expectancy and health depend on three pillars i.e. Ahara (diet), Nidra (sleep) and Brahmacharya (regulated sex). Charaka Samhita, the ancient authoritative text of Ayurveda, emphasizes importance of them. Proper care of these is essential for healthy life. Acharya Charaka has equated the human body to a building. The role of the pillar is undisputed in order to a stable building. When these three pillars are taken care of properly, the person is well endowed with strength; complexion and development throughout full life span. Our physical development is automatic. Our bodies grow as we eat, sleep, play or work. But mental development occurs through taken care of first by family members, relatives, neighbors, then by teachers and classmates in schools. Spirituality can refer to an ultimate or an alleged immaterial reality; an inner path enabling a person to discover the essence of his/her being; or the deepest values and meanings by which people live. Spirituality is often experienced as a source of inspiration or orientation in life. Today in many ways people have greater opportunities of better life than ever before but life is not simple as in previous times. So, it is clear that they need to evolve some new strategies or to follow the golden old rules, which are proved for millenniums, in each and every field of life. This paper suggests that how these principles help to enhancing the spirituality for a longer and better quality of life.

Osteoporosis is characterized by low bone mass and loss of bone tissue that may lead to weak and fragile bones and increased risk for fracture of bones. Osteopenia is considered to be a precursor to osteoporosis. In India, osteoporosis is emerging as an important public health problem with increasing numbers of elderly. In Ayurveda under the heading “Asthi kshaya” many signs and symptoms described can closely be correlated with this clinical entity.Laksha guggulu & Mukta shukti pishti are in practice for the disorder of the Asthivaha Srotasa. So clinical trial was undertaken in 45 patients of Oteopenia/Osteoporosis to evaluate the efficacy and safety of Laksha gugglu and Mukta shukti pishti in the management of Osteopenia/Osteoporosis.Result of the study were encouraging.All the points will be discussed in full paper.

All the deeds which does the homeostasis or balances the proportion of dhatu in the body is chikitsa¹. It may be with or without medicinal drugs. Treatment is for both sarira and manas roga separately and combine .Mantra is one of the form of adravyabhuta chikitsa means without application of medicinal drug. The aim of ayurveda is balancing of all the dhatu i.e. homeostasis. Charak further explained it as to maintain health of already healthy people and treat to diseased person². So every siddhant or every kalpa or every action doing to stabilize the dhatu in body is known as chikitsa. So the mantra process used as treatment and as also to maintain health in healthy people. In India the mantras are used since thousands of years ago. Gayatri mantra, shanti-path, mrityunjay mantra, Vishnu sahastranaam etc. are well & common examples of mantra known for both healthy people & diseased persons. Thus the mantra proven the aim of ayurveda i.e. ‘swasthasya swasthyarakshanam aturasya vikaraprashamanam'. Though practically we saw it is practiced now by very few people and in very less frequency it was a very well developed process with miraculous effects in ancient era.

The plants have been used as a source of medicines by man from ancient times to the present day. Initially these were the main parts of folk or ethno medicine practiced in India and other parts of the world like China, Middle East Africa and South America. Later a considerable part of this indigenous knowledge was formulated, documented and eventually passed into the organized systems of medicines such as Ayurveda, Yunani, Siddha or other systems. A large number of medicinal plants of great commercial value grow spontaneously in the study area. The present study is based on a field survey of the district of Almora, to find out the plants of medicinal values. The researcher investigates “The peoples of study area specified like to use ethno-medicine or not in their cases of ailments?” Researcher also wanted to authenticate hypothesis “There is differences of sex in the belief/ use of ethno –medicine in their diseases?” The present study deals with the indigenous uses of Taxus baccata Linn., Thalictrum foliolosum DC., Berberis aristata DC., Baliospermum montanum Will., Thymus serpyllum Linn., Coleus forskohli Will., Bergenia ciliata (Haworth) Sternb., Clerodendrum serratum Linn., Oroxylum indicum Linn., Valeriana hardwickii Wall. Valeriana jatamansii Jones., Celastrus paniculatus Will., Malaxis acuminata D. Don, Habenaria intermedia D. Don., Habenaria edgeworthii Hook. f. ex .Collett., Costus speciosus (Koenig ex Retz.) Smith, Dioscorea deltoidea Wall., Curculigo orchioides Gaerth, Gloriosa superba Linn., Polygonatum cirrhifolium Wall. Royl., Polygonatum verticillatum Linn. Total fifty-two different diseases have been cured by the reported species. Out of fifty-two diseases, twenty-eight diseases (54%) cured by single plants, nine diseases cured by two (17%) species, seven diseases cured by three (14%), seven diseases cured by four (13%) species and one diseases cured by six (2%) species.

Plants have provided mankind with herbal remedies for many diseases for many centuries and eventody. In India herbal medicines have been the basis of treatment and cure for various diseases in traditional methods practiced such as Ayurveda, Unani and Sidha. Trianthema decndra commonly known as Vellasharani (Tamil), Gadabani (Hindi), having promising theraputic values with its various phytoconstituents. Preliminary Phytochemical investigation was carried out on the ethanolic and aqueous extracts of Trianthema decandra. It indices presence of Alkaloids, Amino acids, phenols, Tannins, Carbohydrates, Flavonoids, Saponins, glycosides and Volatile oils. We are also quantitatively estimated total phenolic content, tannins and favaniods by using spectrophotometer. The total phenolic content was 680.23 ± 3.03 mg/g, tannin content was_524 ± 4.03 mg/ g while the flavonoid content was 215.42 ± 4.52 mg/g. The ethanolic and aqueous extracts were screened for antioxidant activity using Nitric oxide scavenging activity method, which showed significant persentage of inhibition in dose dependent manner. As antioxidant therapy is found to be useful in complicated disease status related with free radical activity. This is the first research report regarding Invitro evaluation of Nitric oxide scavenging activity of ethanolic and aqueous extracts of Trianthema decandra. The present study might be extended for the formulation and evaluation of different antioxidant herbal dosage forms.

Ayurveda is a complete science of life, where we get elaborate descriptions about prevention of disease in a healthy individual as well as the management diseases. One of the common problems and challenges to modern world is trauma and the management the skeletal system injuries which occur as the result of trauma in most of cases. Such skeletal injuries are well explained with their classification and treatment in classical Ayurvedic Literature. Such orthopedic conditions are well explained and documented in the literatures of Ayurveda in the name of Bhagna Chikitsa. This paper presents a historic perspective of fracture management in the Ayurveda tradition.

Investigation of traditional medicine is very important for the welfare of rural and tribal communities for the conventional illness. In past few decades traditional medicine has been done in India. The manifestations of liver diseases such as Hepatitis–B, including Jaundice were treating by using herbals. Alternative approaches of herbal medications are increasingly sought by jaundice patients and health care professionals. The present review aims to give data about jaundice, how it can occurs, what are the drugs causing hepatotoxicity and present trends in research of medicinal plants accrediated with anti-hepatotoxic activity. This may help to identify and develop appropriate compounds or plant products beneficial in the management of jaundice.

Ayurveda is an ancient science of life. it emphasizes on maintaining the health of an individual and has a unique approach to cure the diseases. Along with drugs certain adjuvant methods/principles are described which when followed leads to overall health of an individual. Anupana is one such principle which forms an essential part of Ayurvedic lifestyle as well as therapeutics. Anupana is a liquid material, which is taken along with or after the meal and drug. In the context of food, Anupana helps in its better digestion and absorption and provides complete nourishment to the body. It helps not only for palatability but mainly for carrying the drug to target site by which it increase its absorption in target place. Present paper deals with detailed description of Anupana and its importance.

Medicinal plants or their bioactive compounds have been utilized by developing countries for primary and traditional healthcare system since very long period of time. In several ancient systems of medicine including Ayurveda, Siddha and Unani, Murraya koenigii, a medicinally important herb from mainly Asian origin has vast number of therapeutic applications such as in bronchial disorders, piles, vomiting, skin diseases etc. The medicinal utilities have been described especially for leaf, stem, bark and oil. The well studied pharmacology and phytochemistry of M. koenigii and therapeutic potential of this plant needs to be compiled in form of review. The present review incorporates the description of M. koenigii, its phytochemical constituents and various pharmacological activities of isolated compounds as well as bioactivity of extract studies carried out by various numbers of laboratories. In addition to that, it highlights its potential to be the important nutraceutical for diabetes and cardioprotection.

Depression (Chittavasada) is common psychiatric disorder; it affects very severely the patient's life, when it persists for a very long time. Depression is often undiagnosed & even more frequently, it is treated inadequately. Ayurveda has emphasised the need of psychosomatic approach to entire problem of health & disease from very beginning. In Ayurvedic texts, Chittavasada has not been clearly mentioned. But it has been found that after study of modern literature that there is similarity between Chittavasada and depression.

Drought is considered as one of the most important limiting factors for oil seed plant zea mays 732;growth and productivity in Iran. On the basis of root and air organ dry weight as affected by drought stress exerted by polyethylene glygohle 6000 (PEG 6000), out of cultivars of 732 seeds corn. Their reponses to low water potential with respect to changes in activity of the antioxidant enzyme ascorbate peroxides, guagohtl peroxides, and its translocations . To the shoots and production of osmoprotection proline and soluble sugars were analyzed and compared . In low water potential increase ascorbate peroxidase activity, constitutively the enzyme activity was significantly higher in the corn732 A significant increase in root proline content ; Although the total soluble sugars in both cultivars tended to increase under low water potential The amounts accumulated were mostly comparable in both constitutively higher ascorbate peroxidase activity along with the higher rates of proline accumulation and total soluble sugars are taken as part of the mechanisms which confer drought tolerance to the zea mays cultivars.
