The incidence of lifestyle diseases like Hypertension, Diabetes mellitus, Dyslipidemia, and overweight/obesity associated with cardiovascular diseases is high on the rise. Worldwide, at least 2.8 million people die each year as a result of being overweight or obese. Obesity is a social, psychological and somatic disorder leading to miserable life and a challenge to the physician in treatment since it exacerbates a large number of health related problems, independently and as an involvement with other diseases. The etiological factors mainly vitiate the Meda-Kapha and this vitiated Meda obstruct the path of Vata, which results into provocation of Vata. In the pathogenesis of obesity two factors are of prime significance, Tikshna Jatharagni (Intense metabolism) and Medodhatvagni-mandya (Reduced fat metabolism). Irrationality between two levels of Agni makes the disease Krichhra Sadhya (Difficult to treat). In the context of obesity, it has been recommended by earlier studies that it must be treated on the lines of Guru Apatarpana and the Ahara administered must pacify Vata, Kapha & Meda. Wide range of Ahar dravya having the above mentioned properties have been illustrated in Charaka Samhita viz. Nagar, Yava, Yavaka, Mudga, Kulattha, Adhaki, etc. Hence detailed review on these Ahar dravya in perspective of obesity is done. Owing to the importance of multigrain concept as recognized by Ayurveda thousands of years ago and also endorsed by modern science, need is felt to promote these Ahar dravya`s which are pivotal for complete & balanced physical & psychological development of humans besides considerable immunological support.

Primary open angle glaucoma (POAG) is a chronic, progressive optic neuropathy causing irreversible vision loss. Currently available conventional options have certain limitations; considering which options from alternative resources are being searched. Ayurvedic treatment principles which are targeted towards the basic pathophysiology can play a significant role in the integrated management of this disease. In this case study, Ayurvedic treatment was done along with conventional treatment. A male patient aged 58 years visited Shalakaya - Netra OPD complaining defective vision for both distance and near since six months. He was a diagnosed case of POAG since 5 years and was on Latanoprost eye drops once daily. He was given Deepana, pachana, anulomana, Shiro virechana and six sittings of Tarpana with Shigru Arka. He was also taking Rasayana yoga (~herbomineral formulation with rejuvenating properties) for three months. There was improvement in visual acuity in both eyes along with significant reduction of intraocular pressure. Visual field analysis showed improvement in retinal sensitivity. Blood parameters showed no significant changes in hematological and biochemical parameters except for reduction in Triglyceride value from 205 mg/dl to 153 mg/dl. Thus, it can be concluded that Ayurvedic approach is helpful in giving a complimentary treatment protocol for Primary open angle glaucoma.

The Panchakarma therapy, which do purification and detoxication of the body, promote health and longevity as well as cure diseases too. But prior to such therapy , it is necessary to make a patient fit or ready to expel the already accumulated toxic materials through the process known as Purvakarma (preparatory measures) which include Snehana (Oleation therapy) and Svedana (Sudation therapy). Here an attempt has done to rule out how the Sneha (medicated ghee or oil) that is ingested during the process of Snehapana (intake of oil) produce Samyak snigdha lakshana (some specific symptoms) through Lipid metabolism.

Many new drugs like opium and therapeutic techniques were introduced by them. Use of Rasayan (rejuvenator) and Vajikaran (aphrodisiac) drugs became frequent. Apart from that Sharangdhar also documented medicinal uses of folklore drugs. Although Sharangdhar contributed a lot to Ayurveda in the form of Nadi Pariksha, concept of Vishnupada Amrita (oxygen) etc. but in the present paper the contributions of Sharangdhar in the field of Dravyaguna will be dealt.

- The main aim of the work is to formulate and evaluate poly herbal anti diabetic tablets for medicinal purpose by using Momordica charantia, Mangifera indica, Carica papaya, Syzygium cumini leaves were collected from the local area, dried, powdered and extracted with ethanol separately and stored for further use. Tablets were prepared after preformulation studies and tablets were evaluated by using Weight variation, Hardness, Friability, Thickness and Disintegration Time. Results: Prepared granules by wet granulation method were performed preformulation studies based on the preformulation studies powder flow properties are good and Weight variation was ± 5%, Hardness, Friability are respectively 3.5 ± 0.43 kg/cm2, 0.58 ± 0.05%. Thickness was measured as 3 ± 0.02 mm and Disintegration time 6 ± 0.32 min are good. Discussion and Conclusion: Now a day’s Herbal medicines plays major role in the treatment than allopathic medicines because of less toxicity. Momordica charantia, Mangifera indica, Carica papaya, Syzygium cumini ethanolic extracts were used to formulate tablets. - The term Non-alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease (NAFLD) refers to a broad spectrum of disorders characterized by fatty infiltration of the liver, steatosis, steatohepatitis, and cirrhosis. Epidemiological studies suggest prevalence of NAFLD in around 9% to 32% of general population in India with a higher prevalence in those with obesity and diabetes. No established pharmacological treatment is available for NAFLD in conventional medical science. Several empirical treatment strategies such as dietary restriction, physical exercise and weight reduction form the first line of treatment. Ayurveda has immense potential in the management of Non-Communicable Diseases, and NAFLD is one among them. Purpose of the present study was to formulate a practical Ayurvedic protocol for the management of NAFLD. Ayurvedic classics, compendia, clinical medicine texts & related websites were consulted and reviewed for the present work. In the initial stage of NAFLD, Kapha Medo Dushti occurs. When Pitta gets involved in the pathogenesis, inflammatory changes occur which leads to the next stage of the disease, ie. Non-Alcoholic Steato Hepatitis (NASH). When Vata comes into the picture, fibrosis occurs which may end up in Cirrhosis. The management should be the breakdown of pathological factors like Agnivaigunya, Srotorodha and Kaphamedodushti. A practical treatment protocol including Purgation, Pacification and Lifestyle modification with due importance to particular bodily constitution can help in the proper management of the disease. Through the proper administration of Ayurvedic treatment protocol along with lifestyle modification, progression of the disease and further complications can be prevented upto a great extent.
